It is likely that the only way to prepare for the future is to anticipate it and that the only way to avoid incorporating a reductionist view of water resources is to integrate water into future agricultural, touristic, territorial, energy, and economic policies. This will allow the creation of a global policy in service to more sustainable development.
This forum has allowed scenarios for the future to be put forward, relevant to the identification of the factors and conditions necessary to a paradigm shift with regards to the sustainable management of water resources and of aquatic ecosystems.
To switch from a water policy that is based on supply to one which is based on demand, it is important to know the social, technological, economic and environmental frameworks in which the management policies will need to be developed. The debate initiated during this forum will lead to the confrontation of the various analyses and prognosis, and will allow for various scenarios to be established that allow the passage from current, reactive, strategies to anticipatory proactive approaches.
