‘Sustainable management of water resources: the potential of partnerships and managers’ was the subject of a roundtable organized by the Water Tribune and the Spanish Embassy in The Hague. The event, which is to be held on 27 June in the Dames Foyer at Koninklijke Schouwburg*, will bring together Mr. Van der Sommen, director of the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) ; Mr. Jose Rubio, vice-president of the Spanish Association for Water Supply and Sanitation (AEAS) and Mr. Eduardo Mestre, director of the Water Tribune of Expo Zaragoza 2008.
The sustainable management of water resources is largely dependent on the ability to create and consolidate partnerships between different actors, institutions, and sectors. During the roundtable, participants will discuss the various prerequisites to sustainable water management, focusing in particular on the key role and potential of such partnerships. National and international experiences will be analysed – including the example of the Netherlands Water Partnership – as will the current role of water managers within Europe.
