The International University Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) organized a summer course on ‘Water: a Collective Responsibility.’ The course aimed to establish a status report on the Millennium Development Goals related to water, the efficiency of measures taken to overcome challenges, and the compromises that the water sector – both public and private – must make to become fully functional in Spain.
Eduardo Mestre, Director of the Water Tribune, looked at the theme of ‘Water and Global Sustainability’ on 30 August at 10:00, with a speech concerning the sustainable management of water resources. Mr. Mestre also participated in a roundtable focusing on ‘Water and Global Society.’ This event took place on the same day at 4:30 P.M.
Within the framework of this course, the Spanish Minister for the Environment organized a series of side events, which was held in a tent located inside the university. At 1:15 P.M. on 30 August, Eduardo Mestre participated in a discussion on ‘Water, Cooperation and Latin America.’
