National / honor day September 11th

The exhibition proposal is in keeping with Catalonia's water policy,- sustainability in the environmental, economic and social aspects- all in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive.
Catalonia's presence in the Expo is an opportunity to make visitors aware of the current water situation in Catalonia and ingrain the need for a change in philosophy, a new water culture that allows to reconcile human development and the preservation of water resources.
The exhibition offers a sensory itinerary through the aquatic landscape of Catalonia. Visitors can follow the imaginary course of a river, from source to mouth. The journey has powerful audiovisual material and also different information making visitors aware of Catalonian Government's policy regarding water.
Visitors start the journey under a waterfall formed by bottles of water from around the world, lent to the pavilion from the private collection of Laboratory Dr. Oliver Rodés from Barcelona, founded in 1902.
Visitors can obtain all the information they desire on Catalonia, the water policy or the tourist attractions. This in-depth pleasant and varied information can be obtained through audiovisual, multimedia programmes and virtual characters created by Activa Multimedia Digital, a business from the Catalan Corporation of Radio and Television (CCRTV) specialised in the creation of services and contents in the digital sphere.
The Catalonia Pavilion includes an exhibition space of 205m2, while the remaining space has many different uses. The entire space is located on the same level as the exterior corridor of the building, it is one unit without a false ceiling.
The exhibition space has an independent entrance and exit, which marks the beginning and end of the route. It has a winding format, to create an illuminated atmosphere suited to the choice of the audiovisual resources used. The space is divided into areas corresponding to the different exhibition environments.
The floor is made up of stuck, galvanised steel plaques stuck onto raised floor tiles. On this floor there is a vertical painted plasterboard enclosure that paves out the exhibition space and the visitor's itinerary.
The audiovisual and lighting equipment hang from the upper ceiling by anti-vibration supports.
There is a sign painted in red bearing the word “Catalunya” on the west façade of the Ranillas building.
Towards the Autonomous Communities corridor, the pavilion's enclosure is made up of painted wood with the embossed letters “Catalunya” with interior lighting.
