For the first time in the history of the World Expo, the Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) is making it possible for a wider global audience to join this exciting event, taking place in Zaragoza, Spain, which this year dedicated to water and sustainable development. The Water Tribune, the World Bank and GDLN are cooperating in this event. We will do this by means of a virtual pavilion, "e-waterexpo.net", which will be a lively space for presentations and debate – where innovative knowledge and learning will be shared with the world. Ten themes will be discussed at the Water Tribune throughout the duration of the Expo.

E-waterexpo is a series of fifteen sessions organized during the Expo Zaragoza 2008 from June 14 to September 14, 2008. Each week, participants from 5 countries around the world will join in ‘real-time’ the debate taking place at the Water Tribune auditorium. The Global Development Learning Network will coordinate and manage this weekly 3-hour videoconferencing session, which will link Zaragoza to the world.

Join the world water experience

A typical session at e-waterexpo.net will focus on the challenges and opportunities of water, specifically on financial sustainability, change, reform, leadership, and capacity development. Participants are water experts, professionals, consumers and suppliers from around the world working in government, non-governmental organizations, and the media. These participants will come up with suggestions and recommendations, which will provide valuable input to the "Zaragoza Charter"’. This Charter is the output of Expo Zaragoza and will be presented by the Water Tribune as the outcome of Expo 2008.
